Northern Hawk Owl

Description
Northern Hawk Owls inhabit the northern boreal forests. This little owl, spotted in Saskatchewan, seemed curious and unfazed by our presence. Measuring about 14 inches in length, including the tail, they resemble owls but behave like hawks, which is how they got their name. Despite this, they are entirely owls and can locate prey by sound, even when it is buried under a foot of snow.
